Overview of Angel Elite Sports Program
The Angel Elite sports program began in 2001 with one girl's 12-and-under basketball team that consisted of girls from all over Robeson County and 3 girls from Moore County. The track program took flight in 2002 with one athlete who competed at the prestigious Blunt East Coast Invitational held at Duke University. The program currently boasts 19 members on the track team (co-ed) and 5 girl’s basketball teams (a total of 54 girls participated on our girls teams this year). In 2005, Angel Elite sponsored a boy’s basketball team with 12 members. In addition, 30 girls attended Angel Elite workouts throughout the fall of 2005 and winter of 2006. Over the past two years, over 120 young athletes have participated in the Angel Elite Sports program.
Although the Angel Elite sports program currently sponsors boys track and basketball, our emphasis has been on providing young women within our region opportunities to build self esteem through the positive experiences provided through challenging competition and the discipline of sports.
Angel Elite sports is a non-profit organization and is in the process of attaining 501(c)(3) status. Deductions may be tax deductible. Check with your accountant or tax professional.
