ANGEL ELITE '11 AAU JR. OLYMPIC RESULTS
New Orleans- Angel Elite athletes recently participated in the Jr. Olympic Games for the 8th consecutive year and brought home at least one medal for the 8th consecutive time.
Aminah Ghaffar of Pembroke won her 10th AAU Jr. Olympic Medal at the 44th Jr. Olympic Games held at New Orleans, LA. Ghaffar finished 7th in the 16u heptathlon out of a field of 50 athletes from around the nation. She scored a personal best 4065 points in the event which includes the long jump, high jump, javelin, shot put, 100m hurdles, 200m dash and 800m run. The top 8 receive medals and are recognized as AAU All-Americans. Ghaffar was the only North Carolina native in the event. She attends Fayetteville Academy.
Jaynell Brown and Jamicia Jones of Lumberton H.S. also represented Angel Elite at the JO games this year. Jaynell made her 6th Junior Olympic appearance and Jamicia Jones made her 5th. Brown is a two time Junior Olympic medallist. Jaynell finished 21st of 66 in the shot put while Jones finished 37th of 65 in the 800m run and 19th of 42 in the 1500m.
